LINKS Charity Preparing for Today’s Banquet & Auction
LINKS Charity is ready for its fundraising events at Moon Brook Country Club today and Tuesday, as the 22nd annual LINKS Charity LPGA Pro-Am Golf Tournament, 25 LPGA touring professionals teamed with four amateur golfers, will once again feature a full field of golfers, followed by the LINKS Golf Scramble on Tuesday morning.
This evening, the “LINKing Together” Banquet & Auction will begin at 6 p.m. Seats are available for this special event ($50 per person) featuring the ever-popular LINKS Live, Silent, and Basket Auctions, and dinner provided by Moon Brook.
Featured items in the Live Auction include Pittsburgh Pirates, Buffalo Bills, Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Cavaliers, NASCAR and PGA Championship tickets, as well as a regional golf course package, Southern Tier Brewing Company gift basket and brewery tour, Chautauqua Institution gate passes with Athenaeum Hotel brunch, Helicopter rides, Cummins generators and much more.
LINKS Charity is thrilled to announce the addition of stand-up comedian and inspirational speaker Thom Tran, a United States Army Staff Sergeant, to the entertainment lineup at the banquet.
In 2010, Tran created the “GIs of Comedy Tour” and recruited U.S. Air Force Maj. Jose Sarduy, a native of Cuba, and U.S. Army Pfc. Tom Irwin, an Amherst native, to round out his comedic troupe of troops.
Tran’s appearance was made possible by The Lucille Ball-Desi Arnaz Center as The GIs of Comedy will perform at Reg Lenna Civic Center on Friday evening as part of the Lucille Ball Comedy Festival.
The show is free for veterans as well as active duty personnel.
Spearheaded by lead sponsor Truck-Lite and major sponsors Cummins, United Refining Company, The Bilicki Law Firm, and ALSTAR EMS, along with associate sponsors, Veracity Benefits and Jamestown Savings Bank, LINKS Charity has taken a leadership role in the local fight against breast cancer, as the orgranization has made a $300,000 pledge toward the purchase of 3-D Breast Tomosynthesis.
In 2012, LINKS Charity successfully raised $100,000 and in 2013, will surpass the $1 million mark in support of local cancer care.
