Arts Council Workshop Set

Arts Council For Chautauqua County and Willow Bay Theater present a Stage Combat Workshop on Saturday at 11 a.m. The workshop is aimed at actors and actresses in their teens through adulthood. SUNY Fredonia’s Steve Vaughan offers an introduction to stage combat. This workshop will introduce participants to the fundamental concepts and theories of stage combat. This is a non-armed workshop. Please wear loose clothing and be prepared to move. Vaughan has been teaching stage combat for over 35 years. He is certified by the Society Of American Fight Directors. Art In The Park Is This Weekend

MAYVILLE – The Chautauqua County Society of Artists will once again be holding their annual art show/sale “Art in the Park” at Mayville’s Lakeside Park on Saturday and Sunday. The members of the group as well as a few other local artisans will be displaying, selling and demonstrating their unique and original artwork. The hours for the show are Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Program To Begin Airing Saturday

“Dialogues” is the name of a half-hour television program produced by Mark Kiyak from SUNY Fredonia. Hosted by Tina Zboch, the program will feature guest Dr. Virginia Horvath. Horvath is president of SUNY Fredonia. Some of the topics include reflections of her first year as president as well as plans for the future. The program will air on Access Channel 5 at 3 and 9 p.m. each day beginning Saturday with the last airing on Aug. 2. Access Channel 5 is available to cable viewers in the Mayville, Chautauqua, North Harmony, Sherman, Westfield and Portland areas.

Maple Grove Reunion Planned

The Maple Grove High School Class of 1973 will celebrate its 40th class reunion at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 3, in the Celoron Legion, Jackson Avenue, Celoron. Music will be provided by the band ”Only Human.” There is no cover charge. All alumni and teachers are invited to attend.

Lily Dale Fun Fest Is Saturday

LILY DALE – The Church of the Living Spirit’s annual Fun Fest is scheduled for 7-10 p.m. Saturday at the Lily Dale Auditorium. Admission at the door is $5, and each one paying the fee will receive five tickets for the basket auction. Those of ages 16 and under may attend free of charge. The Fun Fest will include: mini readings, healing, basket auction, historical presentation, book sale, Shabby-Chic Sale, the Children’s Activity Table and more.

Car Wash Benefit Planned

The Resource Center will hold a car wash Saturday to benefit the annual Step Up for Autism event. The car wash will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at The Resource Center’s facility at 862 Foote Ave. The cost is $5. Money raised from the car wash will go to this year’s Step Up for Autism, which takes place Sept. 28. For more information about that event, visit www.stepupforautism.com.
