‘Butterfly Bash’ Raises $8,700

To The Reader’s Forum:

The Butterfly Bash held on July 14th at the Jamestown Elks Lodge raised $8,700 for Epidermolysis Bullosa research. We are so thankful and appreciative to all the individuals and companies in the community that generously donated money and/or items and baskets for our auction to make this happen. We had a tremendous turnout and couldn’t be more grateful to everybody that attended to make this event such a success. All the money we raised was donated to DebRA of America. DebRA is the only national non-profit dedicated to funding research and providing services and programs for those with Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) – “The Worst Disease You’ve Never Heard Of.”

DebRA is dedicated to finding a cure for EB, which affects 1 out of every 20,000 live births in the United States. EB is a genetically based disease characterized by chronic, painful blistering. The skin and mucous membranes are so fragile that the slightest touch can cause severe blistering inside and outside the body. With everyone’s help and support we are one step closer to finding a cure for this devastating disease.
