Bemus Point Beach Water OK

According to the county Health Department’s Beach Monitoring Program website – co.chautauqua. ny.us/departments/health/Pages/beachmonitoring.aspx – Bemus Point Beach’s water is satisfactory. On Wednesday, the website had indicated the water was unsatisfactory because of blue-green algae.

Golf Tourney

Set For July 28

RUSSELL, Pa. – The 2013 McCullough Golf Tournament will be held July 28 at Blueberry Hill Golf Club. The playing format is a four-person scramble and will feature traditional competitions and prizes along with lunch and beverages on the course. There will be a shotgun start at 8 a.m. followed by an awards dinner at 2:30 p.m. at the American Legion, Samuel Derby Post No. 556 in Frewsburg. Extra dinner tickets cost $15. The cost for the tournament is $260 per team ($65 per golfer), which includes golf, cart, lunch on the course, dinner, and awards at the Legion. Common Ground To Perform

KENNEDY – Kennedy Pride will host Jammin’ in the Park with the band Common Ground performing from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Hallquist Park on Route 394 in Kennedy. Anyone attending can bring a lawn chair.

Bible School Begins Monday

SINCLAIRVILLE – “Investigation Destination,” a vacation Bible school for children, ages 4 through the sixth grade, will be held in the Sinclairville Baptist Church from 6-8:30 p.m., Monday-Friday. Dinner will also be provided.

Ross Grange Plans Meetings

Ross Grange met on July 8 with plans for their booth at the Chautauqua County Fair. The title will be “Grandma’s Home Remedies.” The fair will be Monday-July 28 in Dunkirk. Members are needed to check on the booth each day the fair is open. A thank you was received for the donation to the Falconer after prom and senior vigil. Lecturer Betty Wakefield gave a reading: “Things a mother would never say.” Other dates recognized were the County Grange Picnic on Aug. 11 at the Carris Farm in Ripley. Ross picnic will be Aug. 12 in Stow with a ride on the Bemus Point/Stow Ferry with John Cheney giving a history of the ferry. Aug. 26 will be an officer’s planning meeting.

JPS Board To Meet Tuesday

The Jamestown Board of Education will meet on Tuesday at 6 p.m. in the board room at 197 Martin Road. The public is invited to attend.

Antique Assn.

To Meet Tuesday

STOCKTON – The July meeting of the Chautauqua County Antique Equipment Association will be held at the Association grounds, Cemetery Road, Stockton at 7 p.m. Tuesday. The main topic will be preparation for the 39th annual Antique Equipment Show Aug. 16-18.

TEA Party Group To Meet Tuesday

LAKEWOOD – Southern Tier TEA Party Patriots will hold its monthly general meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Lakewood American Legion, 174 Chautauqua Ave., Lakewood.
