Root Salon Opens In Falconer
FALCONER Stacy Howser is an inspiration for anyone fighting to hold on to their dream.
Howser is the new owner of Root Salon, 39 W. Main St., Falconer. Howser opened her business earlier this year along Main Street in Falconer after being denied a location in Jamestown. Howser had found a location on Forest Avenue, remodeled the spot for a beauty salon and was ready to serve the public when she was denied a variance from the city’s Zoning Board in June.
Instead of giving up on her dream, Howser went to work finding a new location. She found a former salon spot in Falconer, and now has a bigger shop and plenty of walk-in traffic along Falconer’s busy Main Street.
”I love this location. I think it was a blessing in disguise. Everything happens for a reason,” Howser said about having to find a second salon location. ”The neighbors here on Main Street have been so friendly and welcoming. Everybody has been so nice.”
Howser said she has been a stylist for 17 years.
”I love making people beautiful,” she said. ”This is what I always wanted to do. I never thought about anything else. I’ve always liked doing hair, makeup and being girly. I remember at career day in school, they talked to us about our future, and I saw there was cosmetology … that is what I wanted to do, so I did it.”
Howser said this is her first salon ownership. She said opening the business was the next logical step as her career continues to grow.
”I like the independence of it,” she said. ”I have a good team. Everybody works well together. Everybody is comfortable with each other.”
The salon offers haircuts to men, women and children. The stylists do coloring, perms, relaxers and many other hair-care services. The business also offers manicures, pedicures, gel nails and waxing. Howser said she is looking for a stylist and nail technician for the business.
The salon is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Wednesday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. For more information or to schedule an appointment, call 664-2204. Walk-ins are welcome, too.
