SWCS Board Re-Elects Officials Butler, Burk

The leadership positions of the Southwestern Central School district board of education will remain unchanged.

In its first meeting after being reduced from nine members to seven, the board chose to re-elect Jim Butler and Bill Burk as president and vice president, respectively.

Butler and Burk were sworn in by Pamela Hultin, district clerk, during the board’s Tuesday meeting. Previously, Burk had been re-elected to his seat for a three-year term during board elections in May.

“I’m looking forward to another, hopefully easier, year on the board,” said Butler.

In other business, the board approved a bid award with Gorman Enterprises in the amount of $101,198 for two 14-passenger buses. Scott Hoot, school business administrator, referred to Gorman as a “reputable” organization based on previous dealings.

Other items approved by the board included: appointment of board officers, board appointments, designations, authorizations and bonding of personnel.

The next SWCS board meeting is scheduled for Aug. 13 in the board of education meeting room at 7:30 p.m.
