Hit And Run In City Leads To Charges

On Friday evening, the Jamestown Police Department was able to locate the driver of a vehicle who fled the scene of an accident that injured a 6-year-old child.

According to police, at approximately 5:25 p.m. on Friday evening officers responded to South Main Street near Harrison Street for a personal injury automobile accident. Upon investigation it was determined that Tyler R. LeBarron, 19, of Linden Avenue was traveling northbound on South Main Street in a 2000 Ford Explorer when he struck a 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe, and proceeded to leave the scene. A 6-year-old victim, who was a passenger in the Hyundai, had minor non-life-threatening injuries as a result from the collision.

A witness was able to provide officers with a description of the vehicle and license plate number. LeBarron’s vehicle was stopped a short time later on the 800 block of Spring Street. LeBarron was charged with following too closely, unsafe tires, no insurance, and misdemeanor charges of inadequate brakes and leaving the scene of a personal injury accident. His vehicle was impounded and he was transported to the Jamestown City Jail and held on a $500 bail.
