Set For Sunday

National and State officers of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution will be in attendance at the annual DAR Day at Chautauqua Institution Sunday. Gretta Archer, National Honorary Vice President General and former NY State Regent; Martha Morris Crapser, NY State Regent, Nancy Zwetsch. NY State Vice Regent and Bobbie McMullen, Pa State Regent will be at the Chautauqua Women’s Club for a Crystal and Silver Tea from 1-3 put on by the Circle of the DAR, founded in 1904. Mrs. Archer is current president. Linda Cass, regent, Jamestown, is chairman of the tea.


Set For Today

FALCONER – The Falconer Fire Department will be hosting two concurrent fundraisers today from noon to 4 p.m. at its station on Davis Street. A pop-can drive to raise money to send care packages to the Veterans of Modern Warfare Chapter 20, and the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 865 is scheduled. The Falconer Junior Fire Fighters will also be holding a car wash at the location to raise money to pay for training with the New York Fire Academy.

Historical Society To Meet Monday

CARROLL – The Carroll Historical Society will hold their monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Monday. The speaker for the evening will be Greg Johnson, a local historian and Civil War re-enactor. He recently returned from the 150th Anniversary Reenactment of the Battle of Gettysburg, and appears as General Daniel E. Sickles. All are welcome to attend our monthly meetings. The society is located at 5 E. Main St. Frewsburg in the building behind the Town Hall. During the summer the rooms are also open Saturday from 2-4 p.m. There is free admission.

Falconer Group To Meet Tuesday

FALCONER – The Eye to the Future Committee of Falconer will be meeting at the Falconer Baptist Church on Tuesday at 8 a.m. The agenda will include plans for the upcoming Art Show in Davis Park, Main Street, Falconer. The event will be held Aug. 24, 11-4 p.m, with no rain date. Those artists with a particular art media wishing to participate and have not received application as yet, can still apply.To receive an application, call Jeri Yauchzy at 665-6891 for information. Membership is not required, but artwork or craftsmanship must be original and handmade. There is no fee for your table. Deadline for applications is Aug. 1.

Game Night

Set For Tuesday

ELLINGTON – Farman Free Library of Ellington will host its first ever Family Game Night Tuesday from 5:30-7 p.m. The event will feature quiet family time with the many board games the library has on hand. Attendees can also bring their own game. Popcorn and a cold beverage will be served.

SCOPE To Meet On Tuesday

MAYVILLE – A general meeting will be held for the Chautauqua County chapter of SCOPE (Shooters Committee on Political Education) at 7 p.m., Tuesday at the VFW, 10 Memorial Drive, Mayville. New York State Sen. Cathy Young will be the featured speaker. SCOPE meetings will be held the third Tuesday of each month. Anyone interested in Second Amendment rights is urged to attend.
