Clara F. Allen

Clara F. Allen, 100, of the Chautauqua County Home in Dunkirk, N.Y., passed away peacefully Wednesday evening, July 10, 2013. after an extended illness.

Clara was born in Dunkirk, N.Y., on March 9, 1913, and was the daughter of the late Martin and Susan Ludes Feinan.

She was a homemaker, and grew up and lived her life in the Dunkirk area be-fore coming to Brocton in 1934 to make her home. Clara also attended The Dunkirk Business School, and was a member of St. Dominic’s Roman Catholic Church (the former St Patrick’s Church of Brocton, New York.)

Clara was married to William Henry Allen, whom she married in November of 1934, and who passed away in 1974. Besides loving her family, she greatly enjoyed sewing and cooking.

She is survived by one daughter, DeLana Gilbert of Brocton, N.Y.; one son, Thomas (Sham) Allen of Brocton, N.Y.; four grandchildren: Susan (John) Harrell of Fredonia, N.Y., Scott Gilbert of Rochester, N.Y., and Lynsey Allen and Chelsey Allen of Brocton, N.Y.; two great-grandchildren: Michael (Tiffany) McCloskey and Patrick (Amy) McCloskey of Brocton, N.Y.; and two great-great-grandchildren: Jena and Abigal of Brocton, N.Y.

Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by one brother, James T. Feinen; and six sisters: Angela Mason, Mary Scholtes, Gertrude Reed, Helen Feinen, Margeret Braum and Martha Wolcott.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 15, 2013 at 10 a.m. from St. Dominic’s Roman Catholic Church of Brocton, N.Y., where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Joseph Walter. Interment will follow at The Portland Evergreen Cemetery.

Friends are invited to call at The Morse Funeral Home, 51 Highland Ave., Brocton, N.Y., on Sunday evening from 7-9 p.m.
