Randolph Board To Meet Today

RANDOLPH – The Randolph Central School Board of Education will hold regular meetings during the summer starting today, Aug. 7 and Aug. 21 at 7 p.m. in the high school library. The public is welcome to attend.

Seat Check Set For Thursday

The Jamestown Police Department will conduct a child safety seat checkpoint Thursday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Chautauqua Opportunities Inc., 402 Chandler St. The safety check is in conjunction with the Chautauqua Childcare Council. Citizens are encouraged to participate in the free checkpoint where officers will inspect child safety seats and offer advice on proper installation. Officers will have child safety seats on hand to replace old or recalled seats. State law requires all children under 8 years old must be restrained in a child safety seat.

Summer Concert Set For Thursday

FALCONER – The Falconer Public Library will start its 24th year of summer band concerts this Thursday. The schedule of performers is: Razz & Friends, Thursday; Kokomo Band, July 18; Cassadaga Band, July 25; Junior Guilders, Aug. 1. Concerts start at 7 p.m. Area residents are encouraged to bring a lawn chair and join in the fun. The Chautauqua Region Community Foundation is helping to sponsor the band concert season as part of their own 35th year celebration.

Frewsburg Board To Meet Thursday

FREWSBURG – The Frewsburg Central School Board of Education will meet Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in the middle/high school library. It will conduct a public hearing on “The Safety Plan” and “The Code of Conduct Plan” from 6-6:30 p.m. just prior to the meeting. The public is welcome to attend.

Ripley Board To Meet Thursday

RIPLEY – The Reorganizational Meeting of the Ripley Central School Board of Education will be held on Thursday at 6:30 p.m., followed by a regular Board of Education meeting, in the Distance Learning Room of Ripley Central School. The public is invited to attend.

Randolph To Hold Lawn Sales

RANDOLPH – Townwide lawn sales will be held in Randolph on Friday and Saturday, rain or shine. Maps will be available beginning Friday at Inkley’s Pharmacy and the Pickle Barrel on Main Street. A free concert will be held Friday featuring Sunny Side Up at 6 p.m. downtown.

Rock The Park Set For Friday

SALAMANCA – Allegany State Park presents its second annual “Rock the Park” event on Friday. The Red House Beach area is the place to be as Allegany’s own Artist in Residence, Jamie Haight, starts things off at 6 p.m. A longtime musician, Haight was voted Chautauqua County’s best lead guitarist in 2005. He has been in several bands and has played with 10,000 Maniacs, and at the Great Blue Heron Festival. These days he does mainly solo work. At 7:30 Western New York’s own Roadhouse Rebels brings their brand of southern rock, blues, and classic rock to the ASP stage. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.
