Reading Program Set For Friday

BROCTON – The ”Dig Into Reading” summer reading program will be held Friday in the Ahira Hall Memorial Library, Brocton. A ”Dino Dig” for preschoolers will be at 10 a.m.; elementary aged children will be at 10:30 a.m.; and tweens will be making a habitat for worms at 2 p.m. Teens will meet at 5 p.m. to plan their own summer program. CLCS Board To Meet Thursday

The Chautauqua Lake Central School District board will meet Thursday at 7 p.m. The meeting was originally scheduled for Wednesday.

Bandshell Series Continues In City

The City Summer Bandshell Concert series will feature the Jamestown Municipal Band as directed by Rick Lundquist at 7 p.m., Wednesday. The free concert series is held at the Goranson Bandshell in Allen Park. This week’s concert theme is a “Children’s Concert.”

Veterans Service Hours Set

Steve McCord, Cattaraugus County Veterans Service Director, will have office hours from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday at the Gowanda American Legion; 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday at the Randolph American Legion; 1-4 p.m. Friday at The Pines in Machias; and 1:30-3:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 16, at the Franklinville Town Clerk’s office. McCord is also available at the Cattaraugus County offices in Little Valley from 1-3:30 p.m. Thursdays. Olean office hours are 9 a.m. to noon and 1-5 p.m. Monday through Friday, except legal holidays. For more information, call the Olean office at 701-3298.

To Host Tour

The Cassadaga Job Corps Academy will host an informational session and tour on its campus, located at 8115 Glasgow Road, Cassadaga, on Thursday, beginning at 10 a.m. The academy will accept young adults, age 16-24, that are committed to a rigorous education and training program that are prepared to launch a career. Applicants can apply for on-center living or off center living, and all applicants will enroll on a full federal scholarship if accepted. Outdoor Club To Ride Thursday

On Thursday, the Allegheny Outdoor Club (AOC) will have a morning bike ride in the North Warren area. Participants will meet at the Jamestown Audubon Center at 9:30 a.m. From the center they will ride to the Dairy Queen in North Warren then return. RTPI Tour Set For Thursday

An architecture tour of Roger Tory Peterson Institute will be held Thursday at 7 p.m. The tour will be led by Marlin Casker, who will discuss the architectural styles and materials used in building this local landmark. The event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served, and donations will be accepted.
