Chautauqua Regional Youth Ballet Opens Registration
The Chautauqua Regional Youth Ballet is now registering students for summer ballet classes. CRYB’s Summer Dance Program offers something for all levels of dancers and also opportunities for beginners to try ballet for the first time. Classes are offered for ages 3 up through adults.
FOR STUDENTS NEW TO DANCE
Rhythm & Movement classes for young children (boys and girls ages 3 through 6) will have students experience rhythm and movement using elements from the great music educators Orff, Kodaly and Dalcroze. Each workshop is a week long and meets an hour a day, Monday through Friday. 3- and 4-year-olds will meet 9:30-10:30 a.m. and 5- and 6-year-olds will meet 10:30-11:30 a.m. Session 1 is the week of July 8 and Session 2 the week of July 29. Cost is $55 for the week.
Beginning Ballet for 6- to 10-year-olds will be an introduction to the basics of ballet for girls and boys who have had no former ballet training. Meets once a week for five weeks on Wednesdays 5-6 p.m. beginning July 10. Cost is $50 for five weeks.
Barre Workout for Adults combines a basic ballet barre with elements of Pilates to develop flexibility, strength, balance and grace of a dancer.
FOR STUDENTS WITH DANCE EXPERIENCE
Ballet Level 1 is for boys and girls with one to two years of ballet training. Meets once a week for five weeks on Wednesdays 4-5 p.m. beginning July 10. Cost is $100 for five weeks.
Ballet Level 2 is for boys and girls with two to three years of ballet training. Meets twice a week for five weeks on Tuesdays and Thursdays 4:30-5:30 p.m. beginning July 9. Cost is $100 for five weeks
Intermediate/Advanced Ballet is for boys and girls with four or more years of formal ballet training. Class meets twice a week for four weeks on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3-4:30 p.m. beginning July 19. Cost is $110 for four weeks.
Intermediate/Advanced Ballet Intensive Week will feature classes in Technique, Pointe, Character and Repertoire taught by guest faculty Denis Malinkine, ballet master at the Milwaukee Ballet, and Daniel Ulbricht, principal dancer with the New York City Ballet. Class meets week of July 22 from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Cost is $400.
