Frederick A. Ahlstedt
Frederick A. Ahlstedt was born in Jamestown, N.Y., on Feb. 22, 1919. Western New York was where he and his wife, Elsie lived and raised their family. In 2004, Mr. and Mrs. Ahlstedt moved to Henderson, Nev. A retired UAW worker, Mr. Ahlstedt left Blackstone Corporation in 1984 after 37 years.
Proud of his Swedish heritage, Mr. Ahlstedt was a longtime member of the Thule Lodge and the Ingald Lodge, Order of the Vikings. He was also a decorated Army veteran of World War II, fighting in the 3rd Army’s 7th Armored Division and wounded during the Battle of the Bulge.
Mr. Ahlstedt is survived by his immediate family, his wife of 64 years, Elsie Carlson Ahlstedt; his three daughters and their spouses/partners: Martha Swarts (Kevin) of Hamburg, N.Y.; Sally Ahlstedt (Joan) of Henderson, Nev., and Julie Possai (Gerald) of Bemus Point, N.Y. He also lives on in his grandchildren: Karl Swarts, Mark Swarts, Anna Possai and Erik Possai. Mr. Ahlstedt also leaves behind one sister, Phyllis Olson of Jamestown, N.Y.; and many nieces and nephews throughout the country.
Throughout his life, Mr. Ahlstedt was an avid bird watcher and supported their need for a natural habitat. With this in mind the family asks that donations be made in his name to either the Roger Tory Peterson Institute, 311 Curtis St., Jamestown, NY 14701 or Audubon Society, 1600 Riverside Road, Jamestown, NY 14701.
His family and friends will miss his goodness, his sense of humor and his faithful and honorable way of living. We are blessed to have known him as a husband, father, grandfather and friend. May the angels love him as much as we, and care for him until we meet once again.
