July 4 Parade To Be Televised
Mayville’s July 4 parade will be televised live. Access Channel 5 will begin coverage at 9:45 a.m. John “Doc” Hamels will be the host.
“We have done live coverage of the parade before, but that was several years ago,” said Chuck Kelsey, executive director of the station. Kelsey stated that after the studio location changed, it became economically impossible to continue live coverage.
“We believe that we’ve come up with a solution that will allow us to resume live coverage,” Kelsey continued.
Through a cooperative arrangement, the broadcast will go live in most of Chautauqua County. Some of the cable access channels will replay the parade at later times as well.
Kelsey indicated that should technical difficulties prevent live coverage from happening, the taped replays will happen as scheduled.
Live coverage will be on channel 5 in Brocton, Cassadaga, Chautauqua, Fredonia, Mayville, North Harmony, Portland, Ripley, Sherman, Stockton and Westfield. In Dunkirk, Falconer, Forestville, Hanover, Irving, Jamestown, Lakewood and Silver Creek it will be on channel 19.
Replays will be on channel 5 from July 6-13 at 3 and 9 p.m. and on channel 19 for the Jamestown area at noon from July 8-21.
