Benefits Fair Planned In City

An employment and benefits fair for veterans and their spouses will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 20, at the Jamestown National Guard Armory, 34 Porter Ave., Jamestown. Parking is available at Lincoln Elementary School. Those attending should enter the Armory on the Front Street side. Employers and benefits counselors will be available to discuss benefits. Tables are free for employers who want to participate. There is no admission charge. For more information, call 661-8255.

July 9 Reunion Canceled

CHARLOTTE – The annual meeting of the Charlotte Center Schoolmates scheduled for July 9 will not be held this year, according to reunion officials.

Water Main Work Begins Today

Lakeview Avenue between Falconer and Sixth streets will be without water beginning at 9 a.m. today so a new water main can be tied in and activated by Board of Public Utilities crews. Water is expected to be restored by noon Wednesday. Water in the vicinity will be discolored following the installation of the new water main.

Ellington Offices Closed For Holiday

ELLINGTON – The Town of Ellington offices will be closed Thursday and Friday. They will reopen Monday at 9 a.m.

Lundin To Appear On Senior Report

“Senior Report with Reed Powers” will have Ruth Lundin as the guest Saturday. Lundin is president of the Jamestown Audubon Center and Sanctuary. The live, call-in program airs from 9-10 a.m. Individuals may call 753-5225 during that time. The program is rebroadcast each day at 2 and 8 p.m. for some communities. Senior Report is shown live on Saturday mornings on Time Warner cable systems covering the following communities: Brocton, Cassadaga, Chautauqua, Fredonia, Mayville, North Harmony, Portland, Ripley, Sherman, Stockton and Westfield on Channel 5. In Dunkirk, Falconer, Forestville, Hanover, Irving, Jamestown, Lakewood and Silver Creek the program is on channel 19. The show originates at the Access Channel 5 studio in Mayville.

Summer Schedule Begins Sunday

KENNEDY – Beginning Sunday, Kennedy First United Methodist Church will be following its summer schedule. Worship service will be from 10-11 a.m. After the opening portion of the service, students will be dismissed to go to Sunday school classes. George Miller will be the guest speaker Sunday. He is a representative of Hope and Help International, a faith-based, evangelical ministry, committed to serving impoverished people in South Asia and India. He has ministered in the Ukraine, Albania, Greece, Cuba and Africa and throughout Western New York and the Eastern Coast of the United States. Music And Praise Begins July 14

The Salvation Army wil host Music and Praise by the River at 6 p.m. Sundays in July and August. Concerts include the North Tonawanda Salvation Army Band on Sunday; Wind River on July 14; Glory Bound on July 21; Psalmody on July 28; Susan Caster on Aug. 4; the Crossmen on Aug. 11 and His Glory on Aug. 18. Concerts will be held in Riverwalk Park in Brooklyn Square, Jamestown. In case of inclement weather, concerts will be held at The Salvation Army, 83 S. Main St., Jamestown.
