Gladys Sophia Ford
Gladys Sophia Ford, 89, of Jamestown passed away Monday (July 1, 2013) in WCA Hospital.
She was born Aug. 29, 1923, in Wilbert, Minn., the daughter of the late John and Sophia Sylwester Robinson.
Gladys was a graduate of Fairmount High School, Fairmount, Minn. Gladys did assembly work at a defense plant in St. Paul, Minn., married and was a devoted wife and homemaker.
She was the last chartered member of the former Concordia Lutheran Church in Jamestown, and was an avid member of the Lutheran Women’s Mis-sionary League helping to spread the gospel.
Surviving are five children: Nancy Pevarnik of Baldwinsville, N.Y., Thomas (Patricia) Ford of Wasilla, Alaska, Jeffrey (Mary Jo) Ford of Jamestown, Joan Miller of Springhill, Fla., and Glenn (Linda) Ford of Falconer; eight grandchildren: Raymond (Rebecca) Pevarnik Jr., Michael Ford, Michelle (Mark) Slade, Sandra Ford (Trevor Lillie), Jayce (Sarah) Miller, Aleisha (Jeremy) Edwards, Carl (Shannon) Ford, Candra Ford (Stephen Roach Jr.); 15 great-grandchildren: Lydia and Gracie Pevarnik, Brianna, Bayleigh and Mykah Miller, Reed and Ashlee Jo Slade, Peyton, Brooke and Cole Lillie, Morgan, Paige, Caden and Carson Ford and Jayden Edwards; three brothers: Wilbert Robinson of Springhill, Fla., James Robinson of Arvada, Colo., and Luther Robinson of Lindsborg, Kan.; three sis-ters: Grace Heck of Springhill, Fla., Ellen Burnett of Valparaiso, Ind., and Wanda Honig of Onaga, Kan.
She was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy M. Ford, whom she married May 25, 1945, and who died Dec. 21, 1988; a granddaughter, Tammie Jo Ford, who died Feb. 5, 1996; and a sister, Lois Troxell, who died Aug. 27, 2003.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude and appreciation to the staff at Lutheran and the third-floor nursing staff at WCA Hospital for their deep compassion and care of Gladys.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Falconer Funeral Home. Burial will be in Busti Cemetery.
Friends will be received by the family from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday followed by the funeral service.
