Don W. “Papa Don” Breads
MAYVILLE – Don W. “Papa Don” Breads, 81, of Card Road, Mayville, died Monday (July 1, 2013), at Absolut at Westfield.
He was born Dec. 13, 1931, in Tonawanda, N.Y., the son of the late Lisle D. and Alberta Fowler Breads.
Don was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict, he served aboard the USS Pocono, and the USS Pangborn. While in the service he at-tended diesel school.
Don had been a machinist at Ajax Renold in Westfield for 25 years, and at AJ Wahl’s for 20 years in Brocton. He had also been a self-employed carpenter, working mostly in Chautauqua Institution.
He enjoyed doing yard work and maintaining his home. He also enjoyed his pet dog and cat.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Miller Breads, whom he married June 28, 1991, in Mayville; five children: L. Darwin Breads of Jamestown, Daniel Breads of Colorado, Donna Breads of Ripley, Darlene Breads (Doug Bowen) of Ripley, and Dolly Breads (Gene) of Missouri; six grandchildren: Elizabeth, Deven and Dareick Hensley, Joshua and Alecia Rys, and Chelsey Bowen; his stepchildren; Stephanie Goodbear of Ashville, David Auge of Panama, Darwyn (Judy) Auge of Panama, Warner (Karen) Auge of Clinton, Maine, and Gilbert (Sandy) Auge of Mayville; 24 step grandchil-dren; 34 step great grandchildren; two broth-ers: Robert (Marjorie) Breads of Westfield, and Lee Harvey (Betty) of Flori-da; one sister, Ann (Fred) Chambers of Texas; a brother-in-law, Larry McNallie of Tenn.; and many loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Doris McNallie; and two brothers: Richard and Peter Breads.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. No calling hours will be observed.
