Cable Fault Causes Power Outage In City

A power outage occurred at 3:45 p.m. Monday in the industrial section of BPU territory, causing the loss of electricity at Titan and the former Bush Industries, Crawford and Sterling facilities on Allen Street.

As of 5:30 p.m., BPU employees were working to locate an Allen Street underground cable fault which is believed to be the cause of the outage. Once the exact location is pinpointed, power can be redirected and restored to the area.

As a result of the outage, a pump at the Buffalo Street BPU Water Pump Station may have tripped off and on momentarily, possibly causing discolored water in the Village of Falconer and on the north side of Jamestown.

A water main break and valve replacement occurred today in the vicinity of Bush School, near English, Sanford and Pardee streets. Discolored water can be expected by water customers in the Allen Park, English Hill areas through early morning Tuesday.
