Rustic Ramblers To Play Tonight
LAKEWOOD – Lakewood American Legion Post 1286 is hosting the Rustic Ramblers, from 7-11 p.m. tonight. Dinners are served from 5-9 p.m. Dinner specials are eggplant parmesan, New York strip steak and fish fry.
Dig Into Reading Begins Tuesday
LAKEWOOD – “Dig Into Reading,” The New York State Summer Reading Program for children, ages 3 to 11, will be held at 10 a.m. each Tuesday, beginning Tuesday and ending July 23 in the Lakewood Memorial Library, 12 W. Summit St., Lakewood. Programs will include storytellers, musical performers, puppets and a visit from a member of the Jamestown Audubon Society. Mother Hoose will also be back with storytime sessions for preschoolers from 10-10:45 a.m. each Friday, July 5 to July 19 and a pajama night will be from 7-7:45 p.m. July 26. JPS Board To Meet Tuesday
The Jamestown Board of Education will meet on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the board room at 197 Martin Road. The public is invited to attend.
Gay Marriage A Topic For Forum
“The Supreme Court, Homosexuality and Marriage: Refining, Redefining or Undoing America” is the topic of the forum on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at the James Pendergast Library. Given the recent rulings by the highest court of the land, the decision further changes the landscape of marriage in America. Some call it a win for diversity while others say it is a descent into indecency. Where does the ruling lead the nation next? Pastors Jeff Short and Mel McGinnis will lead the forum providing perspective on the matter to help people sort through the issues and think clearly about the subject. Discussion will follow the presentation by both pastors and the public is invited to come. The forum is not endorsed by the library.
Community Helping Hands will hold a patriotic bag sale Tuesday through July 9 for $1 per bag, with new items added every day. Community Helping Hands, located at the Gateway Center, 31 Water St., is open Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon. Call 487-1488 for more information. Reading Program Begins Tuesday
LAKEWOOD – Lakewood Memorial Library will host its summer reading program, beginning Tuesday at 10 a.m. People can sign up early or at the desk on Tuesday. The library has programs planned for Tuesdays, July 2 through July 23, each lasting approximately 45 minutes. Mother Hoose is back with Storytime for Preschoolers, Fridays 10-10:45 a.m., July 5-19. Friday, July 26, the Pajama Night will be held from 7-7:45 p.m. Lakewood Memorial Library is at 12 W. Summit St., Lakewood.
Historical Society To Meet Tuesday
SINCLAIRVILLE – The next regular meeting of the Valley Historical Society will be Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the museum at the corner of Main and Lester streets in Sinclairville. The program will be Patriotic Moment and Birthday Celebration.
