Blood Drive Set For Saturday
ELLINGTON – There will be a blood drive at the Ellington Fire Hall on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This blood drive will be through Community Blood Bank of Erie. Donors that day will be entered to win one of 10 Ellington Fire Department barbecue dinner certificates and will also get entered to win a $500 Home Depot gift card.
Saturday Night Service Planned
Bethel Lutheran Church will host a Saturday night worship service, beginning at 5:30 p.m. Attendees should use the Cook Avenue entrance.
‘Pink The Park’ Set For Saturday
All breast cancer survivors are invited to come to the Jamestown Jammers game Saturday to “Pink the Park.” Those attending should be at the park by 6:30 p.m. wearing pink. The opening pitch will be to “Throw out Breast Cancer.” For more information, call Pat Carr at 665-4343.
‘Dig Into Reading’
The Fluvanna Free Library will host “Dig Into Reading” every Monday from 10-11 a.m., beginning July 8 and ending Aug. 12. Events planned include: “Exploring the Seashore,” July 8; “Diary of a Worm,” July 15; “Groundhog Gets a Say,” July 22; “Mike Mulligan and His Steam Shovel,” July 29; “Armies of Ants,” Aug. 5; and “Where the Wild Things Are,” Aug. 12. To end the story program for the summer Wednesday, Aug. 14, at 5 p.m., the Omnipresent Puppet Theater Presents Gumshoe McMonocle and the Strange Case of Rumpelsomething. Thrift Store Offers Many Items
The Community Outreach Center Thrift Store, located in the third floor of the First Lutheran Church, corner of Chandler and Center streets, offers a variety of used men’s, women’s and children’s clothes, household goods and more. Every child receives a free stuffed toy. Store hours are Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. All proceeds benefit local charities.
Library Accepting New, Used Books
The Ashville Free Library is now accepting new and used books, in good condition, DVDs, and audio books for the annual book sale to be held Aug. 2-3. They are not accepting encyclopedias, college textbooks, magazines and Reader’s Digest-condensed novels. All other material can be brought to library during regular business hours.
