Anita O. Benedict
SINCLAIRVILLE – Anita O. Benedict, 92 of Heritage Village, Gerry, formerly of Sinclairville, went home to be with her Lord, Friday, June 21, 2013.
She was born Oct. 2, 1920, in Jamestown, the daughter of the late Oliver and Emily Moody Olson.
She was a 1938 graduate of Bemus Point High School and also graduated from Crouse Irving School of Nursing in Syracuse.
Prior to marriage, Anita was employed as a registered nurse at WCA Hospital. She then devoted herself to being a loving wife, mom “Gram” and “Grammy,” who assisted her husband with the daily operation of their farm.
She was an active member of the Sinclairville Baptist Church. Anita also loved to knit and crochet.
Wife of the late Ward V. Benedict, whom she married Sep. 13, 1947, and went home to be with his Lord on Nov. 11, 1985; mother of David (Pamela) Benedict of Medina, Ohio, and Marjorie (Gilbert) Decker of Sinclairville; grandmother of Robert (Elizabeth) and Lisa (Helen McWilliams) Benedict, all of Medina, Ohio, Julie (Todd) Fenton of Jamestown, Karen (Kirk) Wilcox of Raleigh, N.C., and Greta (Michael) Johnson of Gerry; great-grandmother of Kyle James Wilcox, Hunter and Morgan Johnson; step-grandmother of three and step-great-grandmother of seven; sister of Barbara Nelson of Omaha, Neb., and the late Raymond (1916) and Warren Olson (1999).
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Jordan Funeral Home, Sin-clairville. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery, Sinclairville.
