Pickard Receives YMCA Executive Director’s Award

Meg Pickard, Jamestown YMCA wellness director, was recently honored with the YMCA Executive Director’s Award at the Jamestown Area YMCA’s annual meeting.

Presented by Mark Eckendorf, YMCA CEO, this award is given yearly to a full-time employee who best represents the YMCA focus of youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.

Pickard started working part-time for the Y in 1992 teaching fitness classes. She was promoted to wellness director at the Jamestown YMCA in 2007 with responsibilities in member wellness and engagement, group exercise class management, program implementation and budget administration.

Currently, she is a Y-USA Trainer YMCA for Healthy Lifestyle Principals and faculty, trainer and instructor for Tai Chi and Moving for Better Balance program. Pickard also has YMCA certifications in Step and Cardio Instructor and Trainer, Foundations of Strength and Conditioning, Foundations of Group Exercise Trainer, Zumba, Personal Trainer, cycling and is also certified in CPR.

Pickard enjoys teaching ballroom dance at the Y and promoting programs and workshops that enhance youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.

She has worked at the Jamestown, Lakewood and YMCA Camp Onyahsa locations with many job responsibilities.

“When you give Meg a job to do, she researches both the positive and negative aspects and comes up with the best possible answer,” said Eckendorf. “She is very organized and efficient and the entire Y staff appreciates her hard work over the years.”

Pickard lives in Bemus Point with her son Ben.
