Rollover In Sherman

SHERMAN – A Conewango Valley man suffered minor injuries and was transported to an Erie, Pa., hospital following a rollover accident involving a feed truck Monday morning.

Chautauqua County sheriff’s deputies and firefighters from the Stanley Hose Co. were dispatched around 7:30 a.m. to Route 76 in the town of Sherman. Police said Justin Raynor, 32, was southbound when he lost control of his Cargill feed truck. The vehicle left the road, struck the ditch and overturned onto the passenger side once it came back onto the road.

According to sheriff’s deputies, the truck again exited the road and traveled down a ravine, striking several trees and shrubs. Raynor was taken to Hamot Medical Center in Erie for evaluation, police said.

“He received a bump on the head and his shoulder was hurt, but it doesn’t look too bad,” said Matt Oehlbeck, Stanley Hose Co. fire chief.

Route 76 was closed to traffic for several hours between Bailey Hill Road and Interstate 86. Crews from the state Department of Transportation were present as well to fix portions of the road damaged by the feed truck.

The heavily damaged vehicle was towed from the scene around 2 p.m.
