The Robert Basil team picked up a trio of victories to earn the Dick Walker Tournament crown, starting with a 13-9 victory over the Jock Shop.

For the winners, Taylor Swegles connected for three hits, including a double and Elijah Rojas added two hits

Avon DeJesus doubled for the Jock Shop.

In the second game, the Basil team shut out JTA, 4-0, as Swegles and Colin Maloney each had two hits and Spencer Trout doubled.

For JTA, Jaden Yanik was the offensive standout.

In the third and final game, Swegles and Nate Hill combined to throw a no-hitter as Basil’s blanked, Piazza’s, 16-0, in the title game.

Swegles also added two hits, as did Kayden Herman and Josh Martin produced three hits.


Lena’s downed Lewis & Lewis, 13-6, for a third-place finish in the Dick Walker Tournament.

For Lena’s, Donovan Francis drilled a double and had two RBIs, Peyton Olson added a double and three RBIs and the Beardsley brothers, Chris and Hunter, each had two hits.

Bryce Jackson slammed a pair of doubles, a single and drove in four runs while Zach Peterson and Harry Monfort each contributed a double.

District 12 All Star at Bergman Park on June 27-30.


On Saturday, Carroll Rod & Gun downed Ahlstrom-Shaffer, 7-3, with Tyler Marchincin and Zack Bentley combining for the win. Marchincin struck out 11 in five innings of work and Bentley added another strikeout in relief.

Marchincin helped his own cause with a triple and a single and Josh Spontaneo had two singles.

For Ahlstrom-Shaffer, Reid Bjork drilled a single, a double and a home run and Caleb Terhune came through with three hits.

Carroll Rod & Gun picked up another victory on Monday, defeating Frewsburger, 7-3.

Nolan Brink tossed a complete game for the win, collecting six strikeouts while Tyler Marchincin slammed a triple and two singles, Zack Bentley added a triple and a single, Josh Spontaneo and Dylan Pearson both connected for two singles and Brink had a double.

For the Frewsburger team, Braden Coleson had two hits.


The Jamestown Tigers were swept 9-3 and 13-9 by the Great Lakes Neal Post 743 Renegadeson Sunday at Ashtabula, Ohio.

The Renegades are a19 and under team while the Tigers are 16 and under.

In the first game, Chris Haase had an RBI double for the Tigers and Chad Nelson hit two singles.

In the second game, Robbie Burgess had two singles and two RBIs while Evan Grey had two singles and two RBIs, and A.J. Genco and Payne had RBI singles.


The Gerry Jammers moved to 2-0 in the season-ending Valley League Tournament with a 15-13 decision over the Sinclairville Rangers.

Landon Mower had three hits including a grand slam, two-run home run, and an RBI double to lead the winners. Carter Sisson also had a home run.

For the Rangers, Braden Lebaron had three hits and two RBIs and Nick Russo had a two-run single.
