Red Cross Recognizes National Grid For Support

The American Red Cross recognized National Grid, a local energy company with significant operations in New York, for its support of Red Cross disaster response work through the annual Disaster Giving Program.

Members of the Red Cross Annual Disaster Giving Program pledge donations on an ongoing basis, in advance of major disasters, to help the Red Cross ensure an immediate response to meet the needs of those affected by disasters of all sizes, at no cost and regardless of income.

“Thanks to the support of National Grid and other companies and foundations, the Red Cross can immediately respond to the needs of people impacted by disaster in the United States,” said Gail McGovern, American Red Cross president and chief executive officer. “Members of this program generously help create a reliable funding base for disaster relief services, providing food, shelter, emotional support and other essential assistance to disaster victims.”

“National Grid is proud to partner with The American Red Cross and other partners to support the vital services they provide in times of crises,” said Ken Daly, president, National Grid New York. “As a local gas and electric company we join the Red Cross and the teams of first responders when disaster strikes. Our employees have worked side by side with Red Cross volunteers during disasters such as those brought on by Hurricane Sandy, so we know and appreciate all they do to bring relief when our customers and communities need it most. This is a partnership that helps protect and save lives.”
