Jamestown AARP will meet Tuesday in the parlors of First Lutheran Church at 1:30 p.m. The program, presented by Sandy Ahlgren, senior housing consultant, and Chris Anderson, from Heritage Ministries, is entitled “A New View on Aging.” It will focus on new trends for seniors and new ways for seniors to see themselves in the 21st century. Questions from the audience will be welcome. There will also be a short business meeting, a book exchange and refreshments. All are seniors area welcome.
Karate Classes To Be Offered
The Jamestown YMCA will offer youth karate for students ages 5 to 15 years and adult karate from Tuesday through Aug. 8. The classes will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30-5:30 p.m. for youth and 5:30-7 p.m. for adults. Christina Kebort, a seventh-degree black belt in Shotokan Karate, will teach students self-esteem, respect, confidence, discipline and self-defense. She has more than 13 years experience in the karate arena. The youth class cost is $40 for YMCA members and $60 for potential members. JPS Board To Meet Tuesday
The Jamestown Public Schools Board of Education will meet Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the auditorium at Ring Elementary School. The board will look to approve a New York State School Boards Association Area 3 director and adopt a summer board meeting schedule. The public is invited to attend.
Historical Society To Host Conroe
BEMUS POINT – The Bemus Point Historical Society Guest Speaker Series will continue Tuesday when Jane Conroe, Maple Springs resident, retired Maple Grove teacher and lake aficionado, will give a historical perspective of Chautauqua Lake at 7 p.m. at the museum on Alburtus Avenue, Bemus Point. The series is open to the public.
VA Benefit Laws To Be Discussed
Steve E. McCord, director of Cattaraugus County Veterans Services, or Kevin P. Haynes, security officer, will be available to discuss VA benefit laws, the VA healthcare system or concerns and questions one may have at the Randolph American Legion Post on Wednesday from 10 a.m. to noon. McCord is also available at the Little Valley County Office building Thursday afternoons from 1-3:30 p.m.
