Arlene Marie Dahlberg

Arlene Marie Dahlberg, 71, of Marietta, Ga. died Saturday, June 1, 2013, in the Hospice Atlanta Facility, Atlanta, Ga.

She was born July 28, 1941, in Jamestown to the late Carl and Hilda Dahlberg.

Arlene graduated from Jamestown High School in 1959 and later graduated from Jamestown Community College. Prior to retirement, she worked for IBM Corp. for 30 years in Minneapolis, Chicago, and Atlanta and for 3M Corp. in St. Paul, Minn.

While growing up in Jamestown, Arlene played a lot of women’s softball and was involved in ice speed skating, participating in the Jamestown, Buffalo, and Rochester areas. She was also a member of The Independent Order of Vikings, Lodge 65 Drum and Bugle Corp and Color Guard.

After settling in the Atlanta area, she developed an interest in running. She was a member of The Atlanta Track Club and The Chattahoochee Road Runners Club. She successfully finished 13 different marathons and was especially proud of her completion of the 1991 Boston Marathon.

Arlene is survived by her sister, Joanne (Donald) Adams of Frewsburg; her brother, Bryan (Ann) Dahlberg of Bemus Point; several nieces and nephews; and her best friend, Judith Hine of Marietta, Ga.

Arlene’s smile and wit will be remembered with a celebration of life gathering at a time to be announced by her family.
