Library Plans Chess Tourney
ELLINGTON – The Farman Free Library of Ellington will host an informal chess tournament, for ages 9 to 18, from 5:30-8 p.m. June 19. Registration must be made by June 13 and is free. Space is limited. Prizes will be awarded and refreshments will be served. For more information, call 287-2945.

Annual Gala Set For Saturday
WESTFIELD – The Chautauqua County Historical Society’s annual fundraiser and gala is Saturday. “A Joyful Sound” will take place from 6-8 p.m. at the McClurg Museum in Westfield’s Moore Park. The fundraiser will feature hors d’oeuvres and wine tasting, along with Irish-American songs by the musical duo of Doc and Bill. Attendees will also have the opportunity to tour the museum and its exhibits. The cost to attend the Gala is $50 per person. Myers Library Book Sale Set
FREWSBURG – Myers Memorial Library will be holding its annual Book Sale on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in conjunction with the townwide yard sales. The library also sells baked goods and hot dogs along with having a yard sale. The book sale includes adult and children’s books, large-print, audio books, music and puzzles. Donations are being accepted for the yard sale. Please no textbooks, encyclopedias, or Reader’s Digest-condensed books. Tickets for our Underground Railroad wall hanging quilt will also be sold starting that day. For more information, please call the library at 569-5515. The library will be closed during the sale. The library hours are Monday-Wednesday 1-8 p.m., Thursday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday 2-5 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to noon.
Randolph Open Houses Planned
RANDOLPH – The Randolph Historical Society, 28 Jamestown St., Randolph, will be having open houses this Saturday and Saturday, June 15 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. The latest exhibits will be on display.
Church Plans Chicken Dinner
SHERMAN – The Sherman Community Church, 109 Church St., Sherman, will hold an old-fashioned chicken barbecue at 3:30 p.m. Saturday. The barbecue will take place rain or shine and go on until dinners are sold out. Meals, which include macaroni salad, baked beans, rolls and homemade pies, cost $8 for adults and $6 for children. Take-out orders will be available. Proceeds will help pay to repair the church’s steeple.
Club To Hold Spaghetti Dinner
The Marco Polo Club will host a spaghetti dinner Saturday from 4:30-7:30 p.m., at 1027 E. Second St., Jamestown.
