Margaret Jean Hubbard
Margaret Jean Hubbard, 92, of 3476 Old Fluvanna Road, Jamestown, died at 8 p.m., Tuesday (June 4, 2013), in her home surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born March 29, 1921, in New Jersey, the daughter of Thomas and Margaret Willis Fay. Prior to retiring, she had been employed as a telephone operator by AT&T in New Jersey.
She had been a member of the Bulldog Club of America and the Bulldog Club of New Jersey.
For many years she had bred and shown English Bulldogs, achieving championship status with several.
Known to all those who loved her as “Aunt Mickey,” she was adored by everyone. Always one with a positive attitude, she loved life, and enjoyed flower gardening, reading, and poetry. Over the years she had crocheted and knitted many hats, which she enjoyed giving to others as gifts.
Surviving are several nieces and nephews, including Karen I. (Van) Higgs and Eric P. (Lori) Banse-Fay, both of Jamestown, Monica (Dan) Dean of Darnstown, Md., Christel (Darren) Tynan of Oswego, Kan., and Ralph (Maura) Banse-Fay of Tualatin, Ore.; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Col. Frederick V. Banse-Fay, his wife, Dr. Ingrid Banse-Fay, and their son, Jurgen Banse-Fay; and by a sister, Kathleen Smith and her husband, Joe.
