SOUTH DAYTON – Melody Hale, 66, died Sunday, June 2, 2013, at Mercy Hospital in Buffalo, N.Y.
She was born Dec. 30, 1946, in Gowanda, N.Y., the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary V. (Hartley) Zeman.
Melody worked for New York state as a secretary, and then worked as a bartender for several years before she started managing the South Dayton American Legion Post 1593. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for 43 years.
She is survived by one son, Martin J. Sticek of South Dayton, N.Y.; a grandson, Zachery J. Sticek of Cattaraugus, N.Y.; a brother, Jerry W. (Peggy) Zeman of Buffalo, N.Y.; a sister, Beverly Jo Pittock Warren, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her beloved friend and companion, Spike.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Robert J Hale on Feb. 4, 2003.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, June 8, 2013, at 12 p.m. at South Dayton American Legion, 4 Mill St., South Dayton. The Rev. Bruce Fish of Cherry Creek – Leon United Methodist Church will be officiating.
