Fluvanna Library Board To Meet
The monthly board meeting for the Fluvanna Free Library will be held today at the library. The meeting will be called to order at 6:30 p.m. The meetings are open to the public.
Pre-K Roundup Is Thursday At PVCS
The Pine Valley Central School will host its Universal Pre-Kindergarten Roundup for children who enter UPK in the fall of 2013 on Thursday. Notices have been sent to parents and children. Those who have a child who will be 4 before Dec. 1 and have not received notification should contact Mrs. Nichols at the elementary office at 988-3291, ext. 3306.
Book Signing To Be Held Saturday
LAKEWOOD – Dr. Mike Maccalupo, a South Buffalo native now living in the Wilmington, N.C., area, will be at the Off The Beaten Path book store, 28 Chautauqua Ave., Lakewood, from 1-2:30 p.m. Saturday, for a reading and book signing for his new book “The Almost Definitive Collection” vol. 1. Maccalupo is the author of two novels, “Where the Road Begins” (2011) and “Murder at Ravenswood Hall” (2012). He recently completed his first collection, “The Almost Definitive Collection” vol. 1 and is currently working on a new murder mystery set in the Buffalo area titled, “The Allentown Murders,” which is due out in October. Camera Class Set For Saturday
KENNEDY – The Kennedy Free Library is hosting a free digital camera workshop on Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon. Maria Johnson, manager of the CVS photo department, will be at the library and provide hands-on instruction in operation of cameras. She will also answer any questions. Attendees are asked to bring camera instruction booklets. Call 267-4265 with any questions and to register.
Colley Benefit To Be Held Saturday
A benefit will be held for Rick and Susan Colley on Saturday. The benefit will feature food, music, prizes and more. There will be a spaghetti dinner with salad and dessert. A Chinese auction and a 50/50 drawing will also be featured. The Skeleton Keys will provide the entertainment. The benefit is being held to help the Colleys with expenses related to Rick’s recent health issues. He has been in many hospitals and rehab centers as a result of losing his left leg and now needs handicap-accessible housing. Admission is $10 for the general public, $5 for children 15 and under, and free for children under 5. To order tickets, call 720-1808. Payment can also be accepted at the door. The benefit will be held at Jamestown Moose Lodge 1681, 405 E. Fifth St., Jamestown, from 5-10 p.m.
Antique Club To Meet Wednesday
The Women’s Antique Club will meet for a picnic on Wednesday in the Lakewood Rec. Center. Members should take a tureen and spook, their table service and beverage if they do not want coffee. Dessert will be furnished by committee members Joyce Bracey, Shirley Brace, Irene Berg and Betty Kohlbocher. The Lakewood Antique Study Club recently visited the North East, Pa. Antique Mall and the Clantique Store in Girard; the Battles Museum, a Victorian home built in 1862, built by the Battles Family; and the Yellow Farm, the original homestead from the 1800s.
