Wightman

Lynn Robert and Beverly Minekime Wightman of Mayville celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary June 22, 2013. They were married at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Eden, Beverly’s hometown.

A family gathering to celebrate the event was held in Virginia in April. The family visited the Washington, D.C. area and then stayed in cabins at a state park in the Shenandoah Valley. An excursion was made to Shenandoah National Park where Lynn began his 30-year career with the National Park Service. Beverly and Lynn’s three children attended. Sandra came from Guniea, Africa where she is working as a Peace Corps volunteer; John and his wife Sheryl drove north from Jacksonville, Fla., and Jean and her husband Kevin flew east from Olympia, Wash. They were accompanied by their two daughters: 12-year-old Colby and 10-year-old Aynsleigh.

Beverly and Lynn are members of the Hurlbut Memorial Community United Methodist Church on the grounds of Chautauqua Institution and an anniversary cake was served at the Fellowship Hour on Sunday, June 16.

Lynn’s other assignments in the National Park Service included Rocky Mountain National Park (Colo.), San Francisco Service Center (Calif.), Denver Service Center (Colo.), Pea Ridge National Military Park (Ark.) and Edison National Historic Site and Morristown National Historical Park (N.J.). Beverly retired from Silver Burdett/Ginn Publishing Company (N.J.).
