JHS Class Of ’68 To Meet Soon
The Jamestown High School Class of 1968 Reunion committee is finalizing plans for its 45th class reunion on Saturday, Aug. 3, at Moon Brook Country Club. A get-together will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 2, in the Lucy Fest Train Station and later in Miley’s to finish the evening. Dr. Barnes To Appear On Show
Senior Report with Reed Powers will have Dr. Robert Barnes as the guest on the Saturday television program. Barnes is a doctor of osteopathic medicine. The live, call-in program airs from 9-10 a.m. on Saturday morning. Individuals may call 753-5225 during that time with questions or comments. The program is rebroadcast each day at 2 and 8 p.m. for some communities. Reed Powers, host of Senior Report, has been producing the television program since 1995. The series highlights senior citizen club news for 15 minutes with the remainder of the hour-long program devoted to the featured guest. The guest is subject to change. Senior Report is shown live on Saturday mornings on Time Warner cable systems covering the following communities: Brocton, Cassadaga, Chautauqua, Fredonia, Mayville, North Harmony, Portland, Ripley, Sherman, Stockton and Westfield on Channel 5. In Dunkirk, Falconer, Forestville, Hanover, Irving, Jamestown, Lakewood and Silver Creek the program is on channel 19. The show originates at the Access Channel 5 studio in Mayville.
Cancer Group Sets Up Booth
The Breast Cancer Support Group of Jamestown now has a booth set up at the Crossroads Market between Sherman and Westfield on Route 21. The booth has “Turn on the Pink to Black Out Breast Cancer” shirts, pink light bulbs, breast cancer jewelry, “Help Button Up Breast Cancer” pins, scarfs and more. CLYMER – The Clymer-French Creek Free Library is having a book sale Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Driving Course Begins Monday
The Salamanca Senior Center is hosting a six-hour Driver Safety Program on Monday and Tuesday. Classes will be held at the Senior Center located at 20 Main St. in Salamanca, from 6-9 p.m.each evening. Drivers must attend both sessions to receive credit for the course. The cost is $17 for AARP members and $19 for non-members, by check only payable to AARP. Drivers of all ages are welcome. Course participants may be eligible to receive a discount on auto insurance premiums and a reduction of up to four points on their driving record. Ripley Board To Meet Monday
RIPLEY – A regular meeting of the Board of Education of the Ripley Central School District will be held on Monday at 6:30 p.m., in the Distance Learning Room, of the Ripley Central School, for the purpose of any and all items that come before the board. This date is a change from the originally planned meeting.
