Falconer To Host Saturday Farmers Market

FALCONER There will be a new farmers market in the area held each Saturday this summer in Falconer.

Gloria Anderson, village clerk, and De Ette Dispenza, village trustee, said the new venture will start Saturday. The farmers market will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Davis Park, located at the corner of West Main and Homestead streets in the village of Falconer. The farmers market will run until Oct. 26.

Village officials have confirmation from three vendors that they will be attending the farmers market. Those vendors are Abers Acres of Kennedy, ML Farm of Stockton, Scott’s Farm & Greenhouse of Lakewood and Pretty OK Farm of Stockton. Dispenza said other vendors have expressed interest in attending the farmers market, as well. She said those interested in attending should call the village hall, 665-4400.

”Once we get started I think we will get more,” Dispenza said about vendors at the farmers market.

Village officials said some of the products people will be able to find at the market include pork and chicken products, fruits, vegetables, baked goods, honey and maple syrup. Dispenza said some Saturdays they will also have entertainment, craft vendors and community service organizations at the park. Anderson said, when the village used to host a craft fair, more than 25 vendors could fit into Davis Park for the event.

”This is a new venture for Falconer,” Dispenza said. ”We’ve had positive feedback from most residents and farmers. There will be something new and different every week, so come out and see what is going on.”

Anderson said village officials will be filing an application with the state Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program so both Abers Acres and Scott’s Farms & Greenhouse will be able to accept WIC vegetables and fruits checks.
