Ripley Man Drives Into House, Charged With DWI
RIPLEY – A Ripley man was released with traffic tickets following a single-vehicle accident early Friday morning. Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Deputies along with Sherman rescue responded to the accident on Franklin Street and found Sean Smith, 29, of Ripley had driven his vehicle into a home. Smith’s vehicle had sideswiped the front portion of the house causing structural damage to the house but not to the vehicle, according to police.
Further investigation found that Smith was intoxicated. He was charged with driving while intoxicated common law, DWI per se .08 percent BAC or higher, failure to keep right and driving without a seatbelt.
