BPU To Begin Wednesday Hours At Yard Waste Site

The Jamestown Board of Public Utilities Solid Waste Division will begin Wednesday hours at the BPU Yard Waste Site on May 29.

Wednesday hours will be from 4-7 p.m. each week.

The Yard Waste Site already is open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays through the summer. Green yard waste is accepted at the site, located at the dead-end of Monroe Street where it extends from Eighth Street in the city.

The Yard Waste Site is limited to use by BPU Solid Waste customers who are entitled to one free sticker per Solid Waste account. Stickers may be obtained at BPU Customer Service or by calling the Garbage Hotline at 661-1651.

Examples of what may be accepted include land clearing debris, tree branches, leaves and brush.

Brown yard waste bags are available at the BPU Customer Service Department, open 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. weekdays, at 92 Steele St. The 30-gallon bags cost $10 for four bags, which includes home pick-up service of the bags, whether collected all at once or individually by the BPU.

For more information about the Yard Waste Site and brown yard waste bags, contact the BPU garbage hotline at 661-1651 or BPU Customer Service at 661-1660.
