Wells Leads West Valley Past Ripley

WEST VALLEY – Derek Wells was a tower of strength on the mound for West Valley in Division 4 baseball on Thursday.

Wells tossed a five-hitter with seven strikeouts and two walks as the Wildcats (5-6, 9-8) dropped Ripley (7-5), 9-4.

Wells had a shutout going until the seventh inning when Ripley scored all four of its runs. Logan Miller had a two-run double and Cory Sargent added two hits in the loss.

Michael Grisby stroked three hits with a double, Cole Standbro a triple and a double and Patrick Enser two hits, one a two-run double to highlight a four-run third inning in the win.
