OP Edges JHS In Bottom Of Seventh

ORCHARD PARK – A walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh lifted Orchard Park to a 9-8 victory over visiting Jamestown in an Erie County Interscholastic Conference Division 1 baseball game on Thursday.

Tied 8-8, Orchard Park’s Brandon Nicholson singled in the winning run with one out off of Red Raiders’ pitcher Brett Dehner, dropping Jamestown’s league record to 4-8 and its overall record to 5-12.

Bram Johnson started for Jamestown, going five innings and allowing eight hits and three walks while striking out a pair.

The Red Raiders, who all together racked up 10 hits, took an early lead in the first by scoring two runs, and then added one in the second and third before a big three-run frame in the fifth. Orchard Park, however, kept pace, plating two runs apiece in the second, third, fourth and fifth frames.

Johnson led the way at the plate in defeat, going 2-for-3 with a double and three runs scored. Kyle Emerson and Jake Kindberg added two hits a piece with Emerson delivering two RBIs.

Jamestown is back in action today at 4:30 p.m. at Diethrick Park for a non-league battle with Fredonia.
