Jamestown Man Charged After Tackling Police

A Jamestown man was awaiting arraignment Wednesday after police said he tackled an officer during a late-night incident.

Thomas A. Cashmore II, 27, was charged with felony third-degree criminal mischief, second-degree obstructing governmental administration and resisting arrest.

Police were dispatched to 15 Kenmore Ave. at 11:17 p.m. Tuesday for a reported domestic incident. Officers found a female victim inside a garage adjacent to the residence along with Cashmore.

An investigation found that Cashmore allegedly broke an exterior window at the residence. A police report said the city resident was calm during the investigation.

However, without warning, Cashmore “violently charged officers,” tackling one of them to the ground, police said. After a struggle, officers were able to subdue Cashmore and place him into custody.

Cashmore continued to be violent toward officers, and at one point spit blood on an officer’s uniform, police said. He was being held at Jamestown City Jail awaiting arraignment.
