Ognibene Seeks County Legislature Seat

FALCONER – Samuel J. Ognibene has announced his candidacy for Chautauqua County Legislature District 15 seat.

Ognibene is seeking endorsement from the Democratic, Conservative, Independent and Working Families parties. He is a lifelong resident of the village of Falconer where he has been employed by the Public Works Department for 34 years, the last eight years as the superintendent. He is a member of the Chautauqua County Town & Village Highway Superintendents Association, having served on the Executive Committee and Chautauqua County Shared Services Study Committee. He also serves on the Tri-County Executive Committee and various other committees within the association.

Active in the community, Ognibene is a member of the Falconer Fire Department, and a past president. He coached midget football for more than 20 years, modified football for eight years, helped to organize the children’s wrestling program more than 35 years ago and is the tournament director at the Patrick J. Morales Memorial Wrestling Tournament, as well as assisting various other schools, including Jamestown Community College, with their wrestling tournaments. He also is the voice of the Falconer Golden Falcons football and wrestling teams.

He has served on various committees at the high school, and is the current chairman of the annual meeting and budget vote. He also served as an Ellicott Town Justice from 2002 through 2009. He is a member of the New York State Magistrates Association and the Chautauqua County Magistrates Association. He also has received various awards for his community service, including the New York State Moose Volunteer of the Year.

Ognibene is active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where he holds and has held various leadership positions, including bishop. Ognibene resides in Falconer with his wife of 37 years, Georgia. He is the father of three children: Nicole, Adrianna and Tiffany.
