RTPI To Open ‘America’s Parks’ Exhibition Friday
On Friday from 5-7 p.m., the Roger Tory Peterson Institute invites the public to a reception to open a new, major exhibition, “America’s Parks Through The Beauty Of Art.” The opening reception is free and open to the public; donations are appreciated.
RTPI will host the exhibition through July 28. It is a juried exhibition featuring more than 50 original works depicting scenes in parks of all kinds in the United States as well as Canada and Mexico. This exhibition is an artistic tribute to parks – national, state, provincial, county, city – by a range of talented artists working today. Awards include an America’s Parks Curator’s Choice Award, Society of Animal Artists Wildlife Art Award, Susan Kathleen Black Foundation Floral Art Award, and Juror’s Choice Awards from the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, PleinAir Magazine, and Wildlife Art Journal.
RTPI also is showing a display of fossils including a Columbian mammoth excavated in Randolph and additional art from the life work of Roger Tory Peterson. The institute is located at 311 Curtis St. in Jamestown and is open to the public Tuesdays through Saturdays 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sundays 1-5 p.m. For more information, call 665-2473 or visit www.rtpi.org.
