Angola Woman Charged After Striking Building In Accident
HANOVER – An Angola woman was charged Saturday after police said she lost control of her vehicle and collided with oncoming traffic and a building.
Lydia R. Baake, 18, was traveling eastbound on Route 5 and 20 in the town of Hanover around 7:30 p.m. when she allegedly hydroplaned in the roadway. Baake struck an oncoming vehicle, operated by John W. Peterson, 78, of Dunkirk.
According to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, Baake then hit a building. A passenger in Baake’s vehicle was uninjured.
A passenger in Peterson’s vehicle, Carol D. Peterson, 73, was transported to Lake Shore Hospital for treatment of minor injuries, a police report said.
Baake was charged with speed not reasonable and prudent and failure to keep right. She was issued traffic tickets and will appear in court at a later date, sheriff’s deputies said.
