Cattaraugus Man Charged After Assaulting Neighbor’s Children

CATTARAUGUS – A Cattaraugus man is in County Jail after sheriff’s deputies said he assaulted his neighbor’s children.

Deputies have charged Kirk L. Sterling, 27, with third-degree assault, second-degree harassment and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child. Sterling allegedly assaulted his neighbor’s children in his driveway at 3 p.m. on Sunday, sheriff’s deputies said in a police report.

It is unclear what led to the altercation, police said. No further information was available.

Sterling was arraigned in New Albion Court and taken to Cattaraugus County Jail. Bail was set at $2,000 cash or $4,000 bond.
