Ellicottville Pulls Out Victory Over Clymer

CLYMER – Clymer and Ellicottville were locked in an offensive battle all game long and the visiting Lady Eagles had just enough to pull out a 14-11 victory in Division 4 softball.

Ellicottville was in control most of the way, but the Lady Pirates (3-6, 3-8) made things interesting in the bottom of the seventh, scoring five runs to cut the margin of victory to three.

Courtney Scanlan pitched a complete game for Ellicottville to get the win with a strikeout and one walk and helped her own cause with four hits and an RBI. Liz Wendel connected for three hits and three RBIs and Alyssa Costella added double and two singles.

For Clymer, Carly McAffoose had two hits and two RBIs, Miranda Marucci drilled a triple and had three RBIs and Jo-Linda Rhodes had two hits and also took the loss.
