Relay Wraps Up Track Win For Southwestern

It came to down to a single event between host Southwestern and rival Fredonia in Division 1 track on Monday and the Trojans managed to pull out a 71-70 victory to improve to 3-2 for the season.

Thanks to a third-place finish by Giuseppe Hoose in the 3,200 meters, the Trojans were put in a position to take the meet with a win in the 1,600 relay, which they did with a time of 3:45.7.

Individually, Jordan Powers had a big day, collected wins in the 110 hurdles (16.5), the 400 hurdles (58.4) and the pole vault (10-6) while Tristin Desnerck doubled in the 100 meters (12.2) and the 400 meters (54.4), and John Martin was a double winner in the shot put (38-11) and the discus (114-10).

For the Hillbillies, Jacob Brown doubled in the 1,600 meters (4:58) and the 3,200 meters (10:43).
