Panthers Cruise To Division 3 Victory

PANAMA – Panama’s offense scored consistently and Alec Blose pitched solidly as the Panthers (3-5, 4-6) cruised to an 8-1 victory over Franklinville in Division 3 baseball.

Blose went the distance, striking out 11 with five walks and surrendered just four singles. He also drove in a pair of runs. Kelvin Eddy slammed two doubles and a single with an RBI, Eric Schutte had three hits with a double, scored twice and drove in two runs and Kyle McIntyre scored twice.

Justin Hatch tossed a complete game for Franklinville, striking out four in the losing effort.

SHERMAN FALLS

SHERMAN – Three big innings carried Brocton to a victory over Sherman.

Brocton tallied eight times in the third, five in the fourth and six in the seventh en route to a 19-5 spread over Sherman (2-5, 2-5).

Sherman took a 3-0 lead in the first inning and made it stand up until the third when Brocton scored eight runs. Wade Austin hit a two-run double in addition to three other hits in the third to key Brocton.

Marcalum Buchanan pounded a two-run double and Dan Ferguson a two-run single in the five-run fourth inning for the Bulldogs. Later, pinch-hitter Matt Siragusa swatted a two-run double in the seventh.

Austin and Ferguson belted out three hits with Austin having two doubles in the win. Taylor Appel contributed two hits as did Jordan Patterson.

Travis Henry, Ryan Myers, Jeremy Cole and Ryan Robson had two hits in the loss with Henry a two-run double in the first and Robson scored three runs for Sherman.

PINE VALLEY ROLLS

MAYVILLE – Pine Valley (8-4, 6-3 defeated Chautauqua Lake (1-9, 1-8 ) 19-9.

Winning pitcher Merle Wheeler went five innings, striking out six and walking three. Wheeler also benefitted from a solid Panther defense that committed no errors.

Spencer Sticek had four singles and a triple for the Panthers while Joshua Kilburn and Tyler Swanson each had two singles and a double. Lucas Trombley had two singles, Jacob Wilcox and Winfred Nelson each had two singles and a double.

For the T-Birds, Ryan Linnecke and Jordan Briggs had two singles and a double, Tyler Furlow had three singles while Kyle Mayer and Avery Webb had two singles. Ryan Stewart had a triple and Ben Aults ripped a double.
