Cassadaga Valley Wins With Quick Start

SINCLAIRVILLE – Cassadaga Valley exploded for six runs in the first inning and rolled to a 10-4 victory over Salamanca in Division 2 baseball action Monday.

Dakota Morano pitched a solid game in getting the win for the Cougars (7-2, 8-6), going the distance and striking out nine while surrendering a walk and seven hits.

Tim Bender connected for two hits, Kenny Oakes drilled a double and a single and Matt Hallowell added a triple and a single.

Zack Harvey doubled for the Warriors while Justin Fish took the loss after striking out eight and walking one.


RANDOLPH – Luke Macakanja went the distance for Cattaraugus-Little Valley.

Macakanja struck out 13, allowed three walks and scattered eight hits as C-LV defeated Randolph (3-6, 5-7), 11-2.

The winners got started in the first inning with three runs and never looked back after that. Ryan Hanft singled in one of the runs during that uprising.

In the fourth, C-LV tallied four times highlighted by a two-run double by Matt Booth an RBI single by Hanft. Hanft wound up with three RBIs and brother Matt Hanft and Justin Forster added two hits.

Nate Beaver and Alex Miinte stroked two hits with Miinte cracking a double for the Cardinals.
