Historical Society To Honor Jackson

FREWSBURG – The Carroll Historical Society met recently for their April meeting.

An informative and enjoyable talk was given by Donna Spencer, the Frewsburg Post Office postmaster.

The Post-Journal gave front page attention in an article titled “Special Delivery” and a follow-up editorial opinion the next day.

In May the society will hold their annual open house.

The group will honor Robert H. Jackson, Supreme Court justice and Nuremberg prosecutor, with special emphasis on his early years spent in Frewsburg. He moved to Frewsburg at the age of 5, starting school in Frewsburg when he was 6 years old before graduating high school in 1909 as part of a three-member graduating class. Jackson had a very active life and formative years in Frewsburg.

The next meeting of the society will be at 7 p.m. on May 13.

The meeting will be used to finalize the plans for the open house to be held May 18 from 1-5 p.m.
