Jamestown Elite Win Jam-Fest Title

BUFFALO – The Jamestown Elite fifth- and sixth-grade girls squad won all five games in claiming the Buffalo Jam-Fest basketball tournament title last weekend.

The girls played the final three games at Park School on Sunday and took the championship as the result of a 30-17 win over the Erie (Pa.) Saints. Hannah Frederick scored 10 points and grabbed five rebounds, and Allie Stockwell had eight points.

In the semifinals, the Elite beat Blessed Sacrament of Canada, 32-23, as Lauren Peters had six points and four rebounds, and Macey Lundmark and Stockwell also had six points.

The quarterfinals showed the Elite taking the York All-Stars from Canada, 41-31, with Madalyn Bowen tallying 15 points and five rebounds, Stockwell tallying nine points and five rebounds and Olivia Gates eight points.

That win allowed Jamestown to win its bracket.

On Saturday at Sweet Home, the Elite began the title run by beating the Buffalo Defenders, 40-10.

Gates had 12 points, Bowen 10 points and six rebounds and Frederick eight points and 13 rebounds in the win.

Lundmark scored 10 points, grabbed six rebounds and had four steals while Stockwell had seven points and four steals as the Elite prevailed over the Rochester Warriors, 30-7.
