Frewsburg Girls Roll To Win Over Cassadaga Valley

SINCLAIRVILLE – The Cassadaga Valley Lady Cougars had a dismal day in the field Monday in falling to the Frewsburg Bears, 19-2, in Division 2 softball Monday.

“Looking back at my scorebook, we committed six errors and that led to 17 runs,” Cassadaga Valley coach Ken Balling said. “We should have been out of the inning a lot of times, but gave them extra chances. You can’t give a team like Frewsburg extra chances. They are too good and take advantage of that.

Not helping the Lady Cougars was the fact Frewsburg pitcher Sam Mott was fantastic in the circle as she yielded just one hit in six innings of work while striking out 15. Alanna Blanchard pitched the final inning for the winners and struck out the side.

Kelsie Brown was the lone bright spot for Cassadaga Valley as she had a solo home run.

CLINGER LEADS CARDS

RANDOLPH – Randolph’s Hilary Clinger tossed a four-hitter in leading the Lady Cardinals to a 5-1 win over Silver Creek (0-4).

Clinger went the distance for Randolph (2-3), issuing one walk while striking out seven. She had support on offense from Mandy Finch, who drilled a home run and a single with two RBIs and Kaylee Luce, who also had a pair of doubles.

For the Lady Black Knights, J. Pearl and M.J. Pearl and each doubled and starter C Cummings, gave up seven hits and one walk with three strikeouts.
